Stephen-Argyle Central controlled the game, only relinquishing their lead by a single point once in the 1st quarter. Concluding the first half, S-A Central went into halftime with a commanding 36 to 15 lead over Waubun. Both defenses buckled down in the second half only allowing a single touchdown per offense. S-A Central completed an extra point while Waubun failed to complete the 2 point conversion on their only touchdown in the second half. S-A Central Rushed for a MSHSL Prep Bowl Record 426 yards, beating out the old record they set in 2003.

Kyle Thorstenson, quarterback for Stephen-Argyle Central, connected with running back Brandon Sorenson for two touchdown passes in the opening minutes of the game. The second touchdown drive was 7 seconds long off a single 50 yard pass play to Sorenson.

Failing to establish a rhythm, Waubun took their first time-out, managing to move the chains and punch for a short yardage touchdown on a hand off to running back Josh Kemper who fumbled and recovered in the end zone for the score with 2 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Waubun converted for 2 extra points with a lob to Kemper from QB Dustin Spaeth. Breaking multiple tackles runningback Anthony Mertens ran for a 72 yard touchdown, leading to Waubun’s first and only lead of the game 15-14.

Moving the chains once again S-A Central scored on their opening possession in the second quarter on short yardage run play, while Thorstenson ran it in for the 2 point conversion putting S-A Central back on top by a touchdown. With his third touchdown in the game, Sorenson ran for 33 yards in 4 carries on the drive, with a 4 yard touchdown to complete the drive. Extra point by kicker Blaine Deschene put S-A Central up 29 to 15 with just over 5 minutes left in the second quarter.

Waubun failed to convert for a fourth down on the following drive, S-A Central took over on their own 37 yard line. Borrowitz completed a 55 touchdown run, his second score on the day. Steven Stone for Waubun was injured on the play but was able to walk off the field. With the extra point good, S-A Central went up 36 to 15 in the last minute of the first half.

Waubun Quarterback Dustin Spaeth completed 30 yard pass to wide receiver to Stephen Stone to end the first half.

S-A Central received the ball for the opening second half drive, yet failed to convert on 4th down in Waubun territory. Waubun then fumbled, recovered by S-A Central, who then failed to reach the first down marker at the 9 yard line, turning the ball over on downs to Waubun.

Off an interception by defensiveback Jimmy Crummy, S-A Central ran it in for the touchdown; extra point was good S-A Central leads 43 to 15.

On the following Waubun drive Stone threw an interception to Crummy, his second in the game. Midway through the 4th quarter, Waubun moved down the field completing a touchdown pass, and failing to convert for 2 points S-A Central’s lead was shortened 43 to 21. Thorenston for S-A Central recovered Waubun’s onside kick to begin following drive. With just over 2 minutes left in the game, Waubun’s second string entered the game, moving the chains down to the 2 yard line, as the final seconds in the game run out.

Final score S-A Central 43 to Waubun 21.
